Quick Tips Before You Start

Use Strong Glue: Choose a fabric glue or strong craft adhesive (like E6000) that dries clear and is suitable for both fabric and metal.

Choose Flat-Back Brooch Pins: These are easiest to glue and sit neatly against your patch and fabric.

Gentle Care: Remove brooch pins before washing your item to protect both patch and fabric.

Step-by-Step Guide

1. Gather Your Materials: You’ll need your pearl patch, a flat-back brooch pin, strong clear-drying glue, and a toothpick or small spatula.
2. Prepare the Patch: Lay your patch face down on a clean surface. If the back is very textured, gently roughen it with sandpaper for better adhesion.
3. Apply the Glue: Squeeze a small amount of glue onto the back of the brooch pin or the patch (where the pin will sit). Spread evenly with a toothpick.
4. Attach the Brooch Pin: Press the flat side of the brooch pin firmly onto the glue area/central area of the patch. Hold for a few seconds, then allow to dry flat, following glue instructions (usually 24 hours for full strength).
5. Test and Use: Once dry, gently tug the pin to check it’s secure. Pin your new brooch onto fluffy slippers, bags, or thick jackets—no sewing needed!

Extra Tips

  • For extra hold, use two brooch pins on wide patches.
  • Always allow glue to fully cure before wearing.
  • Store brooches flat when not in use to protect pearls and pins.
  • Not just for pearls - this method works brilliantly for rhinestone patches and other rigid patch types!
