FROM THE ARCHIVE • REAL PATCH PROJECT
Our Patches, On the BGT Stage.
A few years ago we were approached to supply patches for Born To Perform during their Britain’s Got Talent journey — creating pieces for the whole crew to wear as part of their colourful performance outfits.
And then came the surreal bit: sitting at home and seeing patches we'd supplied appear on ITV.

ONE OF THOSE “WAIT... IS THAT OUR PATCH?” MOMENTS
From our studio to national television.
Most patch projects start in a very ordinary way: an enquiry, an idea and a pile of decisions about colours, styles and how everything needs to come together.
This one ended with us watching the finished outfits appear on one of the biggest entertainment programmes in the UK.
A colourful brief
Letters, stars and playful motifs helped build the energetic visual identity of the outfits.
Made for a whole crew
This wasn't about decorating one garment — the patches needed to work across a coordinated group look.
Then we saw them on TV
Definitely one of the more memorable moments in Patches R Us history.
BRIGHT.
TOGETHER. LETTERS • STARS • COLOUR • PERSONALITY
PATCHES AS PART OF THE COSTUME
Individual personality. One recognisable group.
What worked so well about the finished jackets was that they weren't uniform in the traditional sense.
The collection of letters, stars and colourful motifs gave the performers plenty of personality while still making the whole group feel visually connected.
That's one of the things patches are particularly good at: creating a shared visual language without making every person look exactly the same.
PERFORMANCE • TEAMS • CREWS
Why patches work so well for group clothing.
They create identity
Repeat colours, shapes, lettering or motifs across different garments to bring the whole group together.
They're incredibly visual
Bold patches can be read from a distance — ideal for performance, events and photography.
They don't require identical clothing
The patch becomes the common element even when jackets, costumes or styling vary.
They can be completely custom
Logos, names, artwork, slogans, symbols and event graphics can all become part of the patch specification.
TODAY'S CUSTOM PROCESS
Have a project like this?
Whether you're producing stagewear for a dance crew, clothing for a sports team, merchandise for an event or branded pieces for a campaign, we can build the patch specification around the artwork and how it will actually be used.
That could mean embroidery, woven construction, chenille, printing or a combination of techniques where the design needs it.

Build it from ready-made patches.
You don't necessarily need to manufacture a completely custom patch collection. Letters, numbers and decorative motifs can be mixed together to build stagewear, jackets and team pieces straight from the catalogue.
STILL A FAVOURITE
Some orders stick with you.
Years later, this is still one of those projects we remember immediately. Seeing something that had passed through our hands become part of a huge televised performance was incredibly special.
Thank you to Born To Perform for letting our patches play a tiny part in such a memorable moment.
YOUR TURN
What are you dressing a team for?
