PATCHES R US ACADEMY
Custom Patches for Scouts & Girlguiding
Camps, Events, Trips, Achievements & Commemorative Badges
From Beavers, Cubs and Scouts to Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and Rangers, we create custom patches for camps, activity weekends, international trips, anniversaries, achievements and special events.
JUMP TO WHAT YOU NEED
MORE THAN SOMETHING TO WEAR
A Badge They'll Still Have Years From Now
Camp and event patches often have a life long after the event itself. They end up on camp blankets, bags and collections — becoming a visual record of the places members went and the things they did.
That's why we think beyond simply reproducing the artwork. Size, detail, construction and finish all matter when you're creating something designed to be kept.
Send us what you have. We can assess how it should translate into a clean, practical custom patch.

CAMP & EVENT PATCHES
Create Something Members Will Keep
Camps and special events are perfect for custom patches because each one has its own identity — location, date, theme, challenge or artwork.
The finished patch can be worn during the event and then kept afterwards on a camp blanket, bag or collection.
BUILD A TRADITION
Annual Patches Can Become Collectible
Establish the first event design.
Keep familiar elements but change the artwork.
Members build a visible history of the events they've attended.
REAL SCOUT PROJECT
Recreating an Existing Badge — and Improving the Finish
One Scout group came to us with a patch they had previously had made elsewhere and asked us to recreate the design for a new production run.
The existing physical badge gave us an excellent reference for the proportions, colours and overall character of the design.
We recreated the artwork for production and the new patch came out cleaner and more defined while still preserving the identity of the original badge.
The previous badge provided the visual starting point.
The design was prepared cleanly for new production.
Edges and details reproduced more cleanly in the new version.
The new patch still felt like the badge the group already knew.
DETAILED BADGE OR BOLD DESIGN?
Woven or Embroidered?
EMBROIDERED
Bold, Traditional & Textured
Great for larger lettering, simple shapes and badges where visible thread texture suits the design.
WOVEN
Fine, Flat & Detailed
Particularly useful where a badge includes small dates, detailed illustrations, finer outlines or more compact wording.
THINK ABOUT WHERE IT WILL LIVE
Shirts & sleeves
Hoodies & bags
Camp blankets
HOW BIG SHOULD IT BE?
Size the Badge Around the Artwork & Where It Will Be Used
Small wording and detailed artwork need enough physical space to reproduce clearly.
A badge intended for a camp blanket can often be larger than something planned for a shirt, sleeve or smaller bag.
THE CLASSIC ROUTE
Sew-On Works Beautifully for Camp & Uniform Patches
Sew-on patches are a natural choice for many Scout and Girlguiding applications because the badge can be securely attached to blankets, clothing and bags without relying on adhesive.
Sewing is also useful where the receiving fabric isn't suitable for heat application.
BEFORE YOU START
Check how the patch sits on the garment or blanket.
Stop the patch rotating or creeping while you sew.
Pick a neat stitch that suits the patch edge and fabric.
A few careful minutes usually gives a much neater finish.
SMALL GROUP OR WHOLE DISTRICT?
The Quantity Can Be Built Around the Project
A single unit may only need a modest number of patches for one camp, while district events, larger gatherings or recurring programmes may need hundreds or more.
If several related designs form part of the same wider project, we can review them together rather than treating every version in isolation.
EXAMPLE PROJECT
INTERNATIONAL TRIPS & JAMBOREES
Give the Trip Its Own Identity
International camps and group trips are ideal opportunities for a special patch that brings together the destination, year and group identity.
They can be worn during the trip, swapped with other groups or kept afterwards as a reminder of the experience.
YOU DON'T NEED PERFECT ARTWORK
Send the Sketch, Old Badge or Idea
Scout and Girlguiding projects often begin with a hand-drawn concept, an old patch, a camp logo, a poster design or artwork created by the group.
We can assess what needs to change for textile production while keeping the character of the original idea.
A PERFECT VECTOR FILE ISN'T REQUIRED
A clear photo of the idea can be enough to start.
Send photographs of something you want recreated.
JPEG, PNG, PDF and other references can all be assessed.
Detail, wording, shape and construction are considered together.

Sampling Helps Protect the Details That Matter
Dates, group names, tiny symbols and border thickness can all change how a camp or event patch looks once it's manufactured.
Our usual process includes a real manufactured sample that is reviewed through clear photographs or video before the full run begins.
NEXT CAMP? NEXT YEAR?
Keep What Works and Build on It
Once a group has an approved patch specification, repeat projects can become much easier.
You may want the same core design again, a new date, a different colour for another section or a completely new annual event patch that still feels connected to the previous one.
